Frequently Asked Questions

What does Restorative Health mean?

Restorative health is a concept based upon observing how the body normally heals from an injury and then scientifically supporting that healing process.

Decades of prodrome research have taught us that asymptomatic biochemical deviations from normal healthy levels precede future losses in function in both predictable and unpredictable ways. Since the human body runs on biochemistry, when human biochemistry is not functioning at its optimal level, the body’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances or to respond to injury may be compromised.

Advanced biochemical analyses using technologies such as the BioMetrix™ BioScan enable us to detect changes in human biochemistry that can help identify systems that are under stress or showing signs of deficiency. Advanced targeted nutrition using technologies such as the BioNutrix™ Nutrition Platform can support and help maintain biochemical integrity, which can be monitored using follow-up BioScan testing. Advanced imaging technologies such as BioMetrix™ NeuroMRI enable us to track and monitor the body using objective measurements of structure and function. Such measurements are critical to supporting your restorative health journey.

Systematic and iterative science — that is the foundation of our restorative health approach, whether you’ve been diagnosed with ALS or are currently healthy and looking to understand and support your body’s core systems.

Restoring health is not about disease. Disease may be a wake-up call, but it is not the focus. The goal is to optimize health.

We all start this journey from our own unique baselines, but we all have the same destination. Disease divides. Health unifies. Wherever you're starting from, we'll meet you there.

Does Perpetual Health diagnose or treat specific diseases?

No, Perpetual Health does not diagnose or treat specific diseases. Instead, it supports the body's overall health in the context of complex neurological and chronic conditions like ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and MS, using science-backed tools to optimize function and resilience.

Is Perpetual Health a medical facility, and how does it relate to conventional medical care?

Perpetual Health operates as a self-directed research model and is not a medical facility. Its programs are designed to complement, not replace, regular medical care and treatment. Participants are advised to continue consulting with their healthcare providers for any medical concerns, as the services offered are for educational and research purposes only and not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

What does self-directed mean?

Self-directed research at Dr. Goodenowe Perpetual Health means clients are empowered to take an active role in their health journey. Our centers do not diagnose or treat disease; instead, we support the body’s natural ability to maintain and restore function by integrating scientifically backed strategies and advanced biochemical tools.

Participants work closely with our team to understand their condition, explore options tailored to their goals, and monitor changes through data-driven feedback. It is a collaborative process – one that equips individuals with the structure, education, and resources needed to promote health restoration.

All participation is voluntary, and we encourage clients to involve their existing healthcare providers throughout the program.

Who are Perpetual Health programs designed for?

Our programs are designed for individuals looking to support foundational systems like brain resilience, biochemical balance, and overall functional capacity. Many participants are navigating complex neurological and chronic conditions and are looking for objective data to better understand how their brain and body are functioning — and where key systems may be under stress. Our goal is to help restore and support those systems using measurable, science-based interventions.

How long are your programs?

Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each participant. Some people require intensive in-center care, while others may be best served remotely. We’ll discuss your situation and recommend the right timeline during your consultation.

What does the program cost?

Program costs vary depending on the level of support, assessments, and care required. We don’t offer a one-size-fits-all price because each plan is built around your individual health goals. We’ll review all options with you after your initial discussion.

Do I need to travel?

In-person care is available in select locations, but many of our clients complete the program remotely. Some programs offer hybrid options or short in-center stays. We’ll help determine the right format for you based on your goals and circumstances.

Are MRI or BioScan assessments required?

We use advanced tools like MRI and BioScan to track changes and inform your program plan, based on your unique needs. We’ll walk through what’s recommended for your situation.

Is this a one-time program or ongoing care?

Some clients complete an initial program and transition to a maintenance phase, while others continue with ongoing support. It depends on your goals and how your body responds.

Can my current doctor be involved?

Absolutely. We can coordinate with your existing care team if needed. Many clients choose to keep their primary doctor involved as part of a collaborative approach.

How do I get started?

The first step is a conversation. We’ll learn more about your needs, answer your questions, and explore which path makes the most sense for you.
